The purpose of 3:14 Ministries is to lead people to a deeper relationship with God, and to foster personal growth and wholeness in them by modeling the life of Jesus Christ, by discipling them through the teaching of God’s Word, and by providing them encouragement, counsel, prayer and authentic relationship.
Pastor Eric Chaffin is the Founder-Chairman of 3:14 Ministries. As the name suggests, 3:14 Ministries is based upon Philippians 3:14, which says, “I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.” Christians often struggle and sweat in the race of life, but success is possible. 3:14 was created to not only encourage believers, but also to equip them for victory in Christ.
The ministry of 3:14 has afforded Eric the opportunity to not only work in spiritual venues but also educational and civic ones as well.
For 21 years, Eric has been speaking to children, teens, singles, student groups, men’s groups, churches, civic clubs, and other groups, numbering from 6 to 6000. Whether it’s been drug prevention lectures, crusades, Sunday Night Huddle bible studies, or team chapel services, Eric’s messages have always been relevant, dynamic and inspirational.
Additionally, Eric’s love of sports is often evident in his teaching, and he recognizes the effectiveness of expressing Biblical themes and life lessons in athletic terms. He has penned the sports-themed devotional books, Everything I Know About God I Learned From Football (2008) and its sequel, Go Deep: Gridiron Reflections On God’s Playbook. He has been a chapel speaker for numerous high school and arena football league teams, and has also received invitations from such college teams as the Kansas Jayhawks, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and University of New Mexico Lobos.
Eric has also served as a team pastor for the arena league’s Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz and Lubbock Renegades.
In recent years, Eric has worked in pastoral ministry as both a senior pastor and associate pastor, and currently serves as the Associate Pastor of Single Adults and Discipleship at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas.
